Our instructor in College always said, "If you can't do it from the ground or at a walk, you won't be able to do it on the top of a horse or at a faster pace." (
Dean Kunz)

I've found that teaching a few techniques to students from the ground first is also more effective.

They learn a few moves before mounting so they I have an idea what to do once they are on the horse. It allows them a chance to be more confident with the information given so that they can
be more prepared as well as deal with their emotions of being on a large creature.

John Crystal and his daughter shared a unique experience learning together.
From the ground they connected with each horse establishing a trust.

Rider and horse working peacefully together as one!
